You can discover your favourite band when you’re in your late twenties. You can meet your best friend when you’re in your thirties. You can finally accomplish a life goal when you’re in your fifties. Your youth isn’t the only time frame where amazing, life-changing things can happen.
you have this idea in your head that the only time you’re worthy of being loved is when you’re at your best. you’re still worthy of being loved when you’re at your lowest. you’re still worthy of being loved when you don’t want to go on anymore. you are still worthy of being loved even when you don’t love yourself. you are a human and therefore always worthy of being loved and don’t you fool yourself into thinking otherwise.
things to remember while drawing:
- anatomy is great but dont stop because you cant get it perfect
- not every picture has to be a masterpiece
- try new things but remember its ok to draw things you like to draw
- just because someone younger than you is “better” than you are does not mean you are untalented
- everyone sees things differently
- be proud of what you can do because nobody can do things the same way you can
reminder that 30 isn’t old, it’s very normal to not accomplish everything in your 20s, and that it is never too late to learn that thing you’ve always wanted to learn. you’re always growing. that’s a good thing.
Who the hell accomplishes everything in their 20s? Who made that a thing?
I was 48 when I started my apprenticeship to become a tattoo artist. I was 50 when I married the love of my life.
You’ve got time.
I needed this right now. I’ve got time!!!
Things to Stop Saying to Yourself
1. “I’m no good at …”
Say instead “It’s just a skill, and something I can learn.”
2. “I’m such a failure …”
Say instead “I got it wrong, and everybody makes mistakes.”
3. “There’s no point in trying …”
Say instead “It maybe hard, but step by step will get me there in time.”
4. “Everybody hates me; I’ve got no friends …”
Say instead “It doesn’t really matter what these people think about me. There are others who will recognize my value and true worth.”
5. “I hate myself. I deserve to be rejected …”
Say instead “I am beautiful inside, and have value and worth. I deserve to be cherished and be treated well.”
ok maybe this is just me but the notion people have about needing to develop a drawing “style” is so misguided like. getting stuck in a style is one of the biggest problems I feel like I face as an illustrator??? ?
like first off, everyone naturally has a style. it’s like handwriting. you can improve upon it but you don’t need to “find one”, you already have one. secondly, especially if you want to be in comics/animation/illustration, being able to draw diversely is rly important??
styles are just using different symbols to represent something in a simplified manner (for instance, when I draw a nose it isn’t what noses look like in reality, but it translates as a nose to the viewer). but if those symbols aren’t developed out of a real world knowledge of things like anatomy/light/perspective etc., they will inevitably limit you as an artist. like, there is nothing wrong w having a style, as I said, literally everyone has one, but I just. don’t get why this seems to be what people are concerned about “achieving”.
idk I guess what I’m saying is; if you are worried about not having a style, don’t. you already have one, and it’s probably limiting you. focus on consciously improving your drawing practise and try to work outside of your comfort zone as much as possible. (is advice I should give myself more often.)
for insecure angels
- your partner still loves you even when they are away.
- your friends still loves you even when they are away.
- they will sill love you even if they have other friends.
- they weill still love you even if you are not okay.
- they will still love you even if they don’t reply immediately.
- they will still love you even if you don’t reply them immediately.
- they will still love you even if they can’t talk in a exact moment.
- they will still love you even they are not around you 24/7.
- they will still love you even if you don’t love some things about yourself.
“they are not replying!”
MAYBE
- they fell asleep.
- they are busy.
- they don’t feel okay to talk right now.
- they had to immediately leave for some reason.
- they are studying.
- they are working.
- they are practicing a hobby.
- they forgot to reply by distraction.
THEY STILL LOVE YOU.
“they are distant!”
MAYBE
- they are going through a hard time.
- they are hurt by something you said or did (don’t get paranoid because of it, try to talk to them).
- they are very busy with work or studies.
- they are planning something good for you.
THEY STILL LOVE YOU.
“i made a mistake and hurt them.” you can always apologize! everyone makes mistakes.
“they made a mistake and hurt me.” tell your feelings to them.
“they will leave me, i know it.” check if it’s not your paranoid thoughts acting out and tell your feelings to them, we can’t be 100% sure if someone will abandon us.
“they have someone better in their lives.” i personally don’t believe in “someone better”, because we all have good and bad aspects, but it doesn’t even matter if they have someone better, because they are with you because they like you and not because of someone else or whatever.
“i’m not enough.” YOU ARE ENOUGH FOR THEM. THEY LOVE YOU.
“i’m ugly.” YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL FOR THEM. THEY LOVE YOU.
