Depression is like a background app that drains your battery
One of those apps that you can’t just shut down by going into the settings and turning it off. It’s one of those hidden apps you can’t ever seem to find the uninstall option or the ‘disable’ toggle for.
One of those apps that’s still there, even when you reset to factory settings, because it CAME with the phone, apparently. And even the manufacturer is unwilling or incapable of helping you figure it out.
“Bring it in and we’ll run a diagnostic.” And then they come back. “Everything looks fine.”
But it isn’t, because the battery is still draining faster than it should.
So you just learn to adapt and to either leave your phone plugged in all the time, or to carry a charger with you, or you just stop using the phone as much and let it stay in sleep mode.
i wish there wasn’t such a stigma around being proved wrong, bc it’s a part of life, no one can be right all the time. if we didn’t feel as much shame about it i think a lot of things would change a lot faster
we all need to practice saying “I hadn’t thought of it like that” “I hadn’t seen it that way before” “I must have misunderstood the first time I heard about it” “if I had known those facts I wouldn’t have thought like I did”
I do this literally every day at work. It took a while to make this an automatic response, but it can be helpful when shitty people try to make you look bad.
Like yesterday, there’s this woman at work who doesn’t like me (for what reason, I don’t know) and she sent an email to my boss and a bunch of other higher-ups and copied me on it and said “WHY IS SHE [me] CANCELING THIS ORDER WHEN SHE SHOULDNT BE??”
I took a deep breath to shake off the humiliation, then replied, “I apologize if this order shouldn’t have been canceled, but I was under the impression that [in x, y, z scenario] we should cancel the order. Please advise how I can better identify this scenario better in the future so that I get it right next time.”
She never responded, of course, but I’ve found that politely asking to learn more when you make a mistake, especially when people are outlandishly rude, can help you regain your pride when they try to shatter it.
Everyone jokes about Thor losing everything in a span of like two days but it is honestly so heartbreaking.
He lost his mother, his father, he had to kill his sister, he tried to save all his people but mostly all of them died anyway, he lost his best friend, and then he only had Loki left but he was also taken away from him.
He chooses to believe Loki’s death is just another one of his practical jokes.
His “I don’t have anything to lose” line really hit me hard. He has truly lost everything.
Just to add onto this, he literally became suicidal, he didn’t care wether he lived or died holding the entrance for the star open.
His whole talk to Rocket about how everyone he loves is dead was heartbreaking, especially when he wiped his tears away.
I’m glad Marvel has done a good job at letting him show emotion.
I need to talk about the fact that Bucky’s still got his right hand 100% free and could be punching Spider Man into next Tuesday already. But he still stood frozen, looking shocked as all fucks and lemme tell you right now that that was not because someone’s managed to block his metal fist because lbr the metal arm was never unstoppable before, especially when super-enhanced/-equipped people are involved – so basically he doesn’t take that punch cus he’s actually just now able to hear the other guy’s voice and it clicks that this is just a fucking k i d
