christopher columbus:

  • was an immigrant
  • was a lier (told his crew he would give a reward for pointing out land, went back on his word and refused to pay. he also reported that the carribbean natives were cannibals though he knew full well that they were not)
  • was a rapist and a killer (worked toward almost total genocide of the surrounding native population, spreading diseases the native’s bodies could not fight against. he also pillaged their villages and raped the women)
  • was a disgustingly violent slaver (enslaved the natives, literally worked them to death, and gave horrible punishments not at all fitting for small crimes. he even had the dead natives butchered up and sold as dog food)
  • was a white man
  • is known as an “american hero”, our children are conditioned to worship him, and he even has his own holiday

most mexican-border migrants:

  • are hardworking, family-orientated people just looking out for their families and wanting to see them get a better life
  • are NOT “lazy” of looking for “free handouts”, they are mainly good people looking for a chance to earn a salary
  • have/are children. hungry children, tired children, children who just want to go home or possibly find one
  • are NOT violent or thieving, they are good, honest people just like you and me only not as pampered and spoilt
  • are not white men
  • are rounded up and treated like wild animals, kept in cages and separated from their loved ones just because they were born on the wrong side of an invisible line

“poor people. if they had only been a little whiter and a lot more violent, we would have treated them like heroes.”

fuck america.

Just to tag on:

I don’t think people understand the gravity of Christopher Columbus’ impact. I read, “A People’s History,” by Howard Zinn and I highly suggest others to do the same. He explains how Columbus nearly wiped out an entire race. There were close to 10 million documented Native Americans, and after he was done there had been less than 1 million. LESS THAN 1 MILLION. And with those who survived, they were forced to assimilate into his culture, forced to give up their land, and forced into oppression well after he was gone.

Honestly, the fact that we celebrate that monster blows my fucking mind.
